New England Research is a geological research and development company focused on high-precision laboratory measurements of rock properties under upper crustal conditions. For over four decades, we have built a reputation for delivering reliable research, proprietary studies, and specialized core analyses.
What We Do
NER provides accurate rock property measurements that improve petrophysical and geomechanical models. These insights support industries working in subsurface exploration, energy storage, and resource management.

How We Do It
We apply advanced testing systems, integrated data workflows, and predictive modeling to analyze subsurface conditions.

Develop Testing Systems
We design custom testing systems and protocols to simulate extreme subsurface conditions, including high temperatures and pressures, reactive fluid interactions, and thermal-hydraulic-mechanical-chemical (THMC) loading conditions
- AutoScan maps rock properties and chemical composition at ambient conditions.
- AutoLab measures rock behavior under stress, temperature, and pore fluid chemistry that reflect in situ conditions.

Make Measurements and Integrate Data
New England Research combines laboratory measurements with:
- Data-driven models and analytics
- Physics-based simulations
- Proven analytical techniques
By integrating experimental and computational data, we help clients predict and mitigate subsurface risks with greater confidence.

Deploy Models & Solutions
We transform complex subsurface data into practical models and solutions that industries can use to:
- Store CO₂ and hydrogen more effectively
- Improve geothermal and thermal energy storage
- Enhance mining and resource extraction efficiency
- Develop subsurface energy solutions that support long-term sustainability
Who We Work With
New England Research works with oil and gas companies, independent energy firms, academic institutions, and government agencies and laboratories.
Techology Portfolio
NER’s diverse experience includes a wide range of technology areas. We leverage federal research contracts to advance studies in subsurface energy storage, resource exploration, and energy sustainability.
